Quechua presents mono-material NH100 hiking shoe update
Decathlon-owned outdoor brand Quechua has unveiled a mono-material hiking shoe, made using only a single synthetic versus the six typically required by its NH100.

The new model, named the NH One, is the latest iteration of the business’ NH100 style.

According to Decathlon chief executive, Barbara Martin Coppola, Quechua sold three million pairs of NH100s last year.

Its next move is to test 3,000 pairs of NH One shoes in France, “to ensure that we get it right”, she explained. The NH One’s material composition subsequently “means that it is far easier to recycle and can then be used to create other sporting products like swimming fins, giving them a new lease of life.”

Ms Martin Coppola added that Decathlon will also organise complimentary collection for used and “maxed-out” NH Ones further down the line. At product level alone, the company has been able to reduce carbon dioxide output by 16% with this latest model, in comparison to its predecessor.
