First in-house footwear from Arc’teryx due in March

Outdoor company Arc’teryx, headquartered in North Vancouver, Canada, is due to launch three new sports shoe designs on March 6, all designed completely in-house for the very first time.

The line-up includes technical trail-running model Sylan, slip-on mountain shoe Kragg for post-climb activities and Vertex Alpine, a climber with hard-wearing Cordura uppers.

An alternative Gore-Tex version of the latter will also be made available.

All three feature Vibram midsole, outsole, grip or rubber protection technology for enhanced comfort and stability on the trails.

Arc’teryx worked with Oregon-based Insight Insole to create a new drop-in, antibacterial insole for the Kragg.

Previously, all Arc’teryx footwear was designed with the help of developers from fellow Amer Sports-owned brand Salomon. The business debuted trail-running shoes during the summer of 2016.

“We are a mountain brand, not a running company,” vice-president of footwear, Ovidio Garcia, told Forbes.

“You won’t see our line go really, really wide, but you will see us go very, very deep to what running in the mountains means.”
