Award nomination for Icebug forestry initiative
Outdoor footwear brand Icebug has won a nomination for a national award in Sweden for its work with conservation charity Naturavet.
Icebug donated all of its Black Friday sales in 2023 to Naturavet, an organisation that works to protect forests in Sweden.
This initiative raised more than €75,000 and has now been nominated for an award by the Swedish Fundraising Association.
Co-founder of the footwear brand, David Ekelund, said he hoped this would raise greater awareness of deforestation.
He said: “When you consider how little old-growth forest we have left in Sweden, it is completely unreasonable that it is not protected so that it remains when our children grow up. Naturarvet is doing important work here, and we at Icebug are happy to contribute.”
