Increase in cotton production predicted for 2024-2025

18/03/2024

Cotton supply chain information resource Cotlook has said its initial estimates for the 2024-2025 season suggest raw cotton production of 24.9 million tonnes across the globe. This would be an increase of 1.8% compared to 2023-2024.

It said the US accounted for the biggest share of this increase and that this was largely because of expected better yields among farmers there.

Its initial expectation is that global consumption of cotton in 2024-2025 will reach 24.5 million tonnes. Therefore, by the end of the 2024-2025 marketing year, global stocks of cotton should be 435,000 tonnes higher than at the start of the season.
