New partnership will take Carbios’s technology to China
Biorecycling company Carbios has announced a new partnership with Zhink Group, a Chinese developer of polyester fibres and textiles.
The two companies have jointly signed a letter of intent to build a biorecycling plant in China using Carbios’s enzymatic depolymerisation technology. The new plant will serve the global market.
This first plant will have a minimum annual processing capacity of 50,000 tonnes of polyester textile waste.
China, as the world’s leading producer of polyester fibre with annual production of 67 million tonnes. Carbios has said it views China as a key market for its technology, which can help the country also to take the lead in recycled polyester production.
Carbios’s enzymatic depolymerisation technology enables efficient and solvent-free recycling of plastic and textile waste into what it calls virgin-like products.
