PrimaLoft extends P.U.R.E. concept
Following a pattern the US-based company has often applied, Primaloft is now switching all of its Gold label products to its low-impact P.U.R.E. manufacturing process, which is said to reduce CO2 emissions during insulation production by 50% or more.
“Starting this January, we have switched all the Gold references to P.U.R.E., and in the next few years, Silver and Black references will also transition,” Shani Wright, who is the company’s new communications manager for Europe, told Sportstextiles at Performance Days last week. “This makes the transition smoother for brands, and heightens the impact,” she said.
Meanwhile, the company’s knitted insulation, known as PrimaLoft Active Evolve, has proven to be quite popular recently, with new brands signing up, including Rab, Café du Cycliste, Helly Hansen or Original Mountain Marathon. “It can be used as a base or a mid layer, and can also work as a four-season piece,” notes Ms Wright. It is also said to provide high moisture management, as garments using the furry knit do not require a downproof fabric construction.
