Partners team up to tackle turf toe with new insole
Flexible carbon fibre composites developer Carbitex has teamed up with performance insole brand Blumaka to create a new carbon-plated insole. The companies have said the product can help athletes prevent or recover from turf toe.
Turf toe is an injury to the metatarsophalangeal joint in the big toe. Reports say as many as 45% of players in American football’s NFL have suffered from the condition, which can limit game-time and even be career-threatening.
The new insole, called the Carbon Elite, uses GearFlex material from Carbitex. This material, the company has explained, flexes to allow natural movement, but also stiff when bending, protecting the big toe from over-rotation.
Proprietary energy-transfer technology from Blumaka, Ground Reaction Force, is also part of the insole’s composition.
