Thumbs-up from SGS for wearable robotics product

Testing, inspection and certification company SGS claims to have “broken new ground” with a first-ever award of its premium performance mark for an outdoor powered exoskeleton.

The certification was awarded to Shanghai-based technology developer Hypershell for its Hypershell X Series, which combines robotics, ergonomics and an AI-powered assistance system.

Hypershell describes its products as wearable robotics that can adapt in real time to terrain and activity to make it easier for people to move and, as a result, enhance athletic performance. The company says it envisages a future in which wearable robotics will become as essential as backpacks for exploration, work and play.

Having the SGS premium performance mark verifies that the product can increase athletic performance, reduce muscle load, decrease average oxygen consumption by almost 40%, and decrease average heart-rate by up to 42%.
