Asian companies reported to be eying up acquisition of Puma

Business media reports have suggested three Asian sports brands are considering putting bids together to acquire Puma.

On November 27, Bloomberg said Anta Sports, Li Ning and ASICS were all in the running to take over the Germany-based brand.

It said Anta was working with advisors on the possibility of submitting a bid for Puma, adding that the Hong Kong-listed company could “team up” with a private-equity partner to press ahead with the acquisition.

Li Ning told the Wall Street Journal that, “as of now”, it is not engaged in “any substantive negotiations or evaluations” regarding Puma.

ASICS has not made any comment on reports linking it to Puma.
