Proposed merger for Japanese fibre developers

02/12/2025

Japanese industrial group Teijin has announced that its fibres division, Teijin Frontier, is to merge with rival fibre producer Asahi Kasei Advance. Upon completion of the merger, Teijin Frontier will run as a joint venture between the Teijin and Asahi corporations.

Tentatively, the companies have said they hope this merger will be complete by October 2026.

“Both companies have unique strengths in the field of textiles and materials,” Teijin said. “This integration will combine these strengths. Specifically, the integration will create cross-selling opportunities by expanding the sales channels and products handled by both companies, reduce procurement costs and establish a stable supply system by integrating value chains.”

It added that this would enhance competitiveness in domestic and overseas markets and improve the speed of product development. It said the new joint venture company would have “a strong foundation for growth”.
