Textile Exchange pivots to two-tier structure to boost 'collective action'
The Textile Exchange is evolving its membership structure to offer two tiers – a more passive Community tier and an Action tier, which will “help organisations respond to the climate and nature crisis”.
The Community Cohort is tailored to organisations whose work sits outside direct raw material sourcing or production, but who are still looking to grow their sustainability knowledge and share expertise. It is suited to academics, non-profits and solution providers, as well as supply chain partners in Tiers 1–3 who do not produce or procure materials. Organisations will have access to knowledge-sharing opportunities, learning, events and tools. This closely matches the current membership structure.
The Action Cohort is for brands, suppliers and raw material producers that are directly involved in sourcing or producing materials and structured to help its members achieve measurable progress. It provides a standardised progress reporting framework, increased guidance and the opportunity to join initiatives and workshops.
Sarah Needham, senior director of engagement and partnerships, said: “Since the beginning of Textile Exchange, members have shown many times what’s possible when the industry works together. Now, this evolved membership structure empowers them to collectively go further, no matter where they are on their sustainability journey.”
Full details will be released early next year.
