Archroma and Fibre52 partner to offer one-step bleach-and-dye system
Swiss chemicals company Archroma has added Fibre52’s innovative low-impact dyeing process to its portfolio of products, becoming the global distributor for the patented technology. When combined with Archroma’s Avitera SE reactive dye range, the Fibre52 process is said to enhances dye uptake and colour depth. It thus leads to reduced resource use from pretreatment to dyeing, enabling a reduction in water usage and CO2 emissions by up to 50%, said Archroma.

The Fibre52 system was developed by Innova, a company based in Houston, Texas. It replaces conventional caustic bleaching with a low-temperature process that is said to preserve the natural layer of wax on cotton fibres. This results in stronger, softer and more durable fabrics, in addition to minimising the need for softeners.

Made for cotton fabrics, the process is said to “perform exceptionally” on cotton/polyester blends.

“Through our partnership with Archroma, we can now deliver that vision at scale—combining Fibre52’s neutral-pH, caustic-free technology with Archroma’s Avitera SE dyes to create a
complete, low-impact bleach-and-dye system. This is how the industry moves forward:
practical innovation that improves performance, protects fibres, and dramatically reduces
environmental impact,” commented Laura Thornquist, president of Innovo Fiber LLC.
