‘Intense training’ inspires Lululemon collection

Canadian brand Lululemon has designed a collection “backed by thousands of hours of research and development”, engineered for “heavy lifts and demanding gym sessions”.

Unrestricted Power features a new fabric called PowerLu, which is made with its highest filament-count yarn to balance stretch, motion and stability.

The garments have been developed with feedback from ambassadors including athlete Kayla Jeter and Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton. “We identified the specific demands they face during their most intense training sessions,” said Antonia Iamartino, a senior director of research and product innovation.

Unrestricted Power is available in North America and will be available globally later this year.

Last month, the company paused online sales of leggings while it investigated complaints of see-through fabric. In 2013, quality issues led to a recall of 17% of women's leggings and senior managment shake-ups.
