Outlast fresh2SKIN expands to cotton and viscose
Outlast Technologies, based in Heidenheim, Germany, now offers its fresh2SKIN cooling technology in cellulosic fibres such as cotton and viscose, a move that enables brands to enhance the performance of natural or wood-based textiles with an instant cooling effect.
The company says that the new finish is “virtually imperceptible on the textile” and preserves the soft and smooth feel of fabrics made from cotton or viscose. The fresh hand feel is felt immediately, offering a perk at purchase points. Beyond the instant fresh effect, fabrics made from Outlast fresh2SKIN are embedded with microcapsules containing a natural wax that absorbs excess body heat and releases it when temperatures drop. This offers wearers a balanced and comfortable microclimate that helps reduce sweating.
“Achieving this exceptionally natural hand feel on cellulose-based fibres such as cotton or viscose was a key objective for our development team,” commented Volker Schuster, Head of Research & Development at Outlast Technologies. “Our goal was to integrate the fresh2SKIN functionality without compromising the authentic character of these materials. The result are textiles that feel completely natural while delivering an immediately noticeable cooling effect.”
Outlast has recently finalised new wearer trials with athletes of different levels. “The test has confirmed that for everyday athletes, Outlast technology reduces sweating which contributes to greater wearer comfort,” Ari Pachur, business development manager, told Sportstextiles.
