Crude oil surges reflected in polyester prices

15/04/2026

Japanese textiles manufacturer Teijin Frontier has announced substantial increases in its prices for polyester fibres due to the “deterioration” in the Middle East.

The disruption in crude oil supplies, leading to price surges in crude oil and petrochemical products, has impacted the costs of raw materials, energy, logistics and other inputs.

The price of polyester fibres and spun yarns will increase 20% or more, while the price of textiles will increase between 15% and 25%.

The company said it had strived to maintain its sales prices by making production more efficient and cutting expenses but as rapid cost increases exceed what the company can offset, it needs to implement emergency sales price revisions to ensure supplies.
