21/04/2026

The US Cotton Trust Protocol announced Walmart has joined the programme, which it said will significantly scale the impact of sustainable cotton sourcing.

The retailer will gain access to data on sustainability practices from US cotton growers and have the ability to track the movement of US Cotton and Protocol Cotton through its supply chain.

Walmart's target is to help sustainably manage, protect or restore at least 50 million acres of land and 1 million square miles of ocean by 2030.

Established in 2020, the Trust Protocol collects data across land use, soil health, water management, greenhouse gas emissions, energy use and fibre quality.

Other members include Amazon, Macy's, Levi's and URBN.
