IST introduces collaborative platform for PlatinumWool
Japan-based I.S.T. Corporation is launching a new platform for its PlatinumWool at Pitti Filati and Milano Unica. PlatinumWool is the result of a proprietary technology developed by IST for merino wool that is said to enhance the natural properties of the fibre. Members of the PlatinumWorld network include Woolmark, Südwolle Group’s GTI division, Mister Joe, part of Italy’s A ZETA Group, and Biella-based CM Tessuti, which was one of the first European companies to use IST PlatinumWool in commercial fabrics.
Headed by Toshiko Sakane, I.S.T. Corporation is a family-owned research-oriented company that works closely with its costumers to develop innovative solutions. Back in 2020, it had developed a washable, quick dry, very warm fabric for extreme uses that Patagonia marketed as Capilene Air, and which was made from a blend of 51% merino wool and 49% recycled polyester.
