Epoch Biodesign acquires nylon facility in Spain

03/08/2026

London-based biotech company Epoch Biodesign has announced the acquisition of a nylon 6.6 production site in Blanes, Spain, which was most recently the property of DOMO chemicals. This vertical integration marks the first industrial scale facility, with a capacity to produce 52,000 tonnes yearly, that will be making recycled polyamide derived from the company’s enzyme-based technology.

This recycling method is said to yield virgin-quality recycled monomers, thanks to AI-designed enzymes.

Founded in 2019, Epoch Biodesign has attracted financial support from several industry players including Invista, a producer of polyamide 6.6, Inditex and lululemon. It raised €10.3 million in 2026, and €17 million in 2025.
