Dutch textile innovator Mariva Materials has been working on the development of a bio-based polyester and has announced the first batch of a high-melting-point, high-tenacity performance fibre for textile applications. The company was spun off of Dutch group Senbis Polymer Innovations in 2026. Senbis contributed to achieving the melt-spinning profile of standard polyester. The yarn is also said to be recyclable and to biodegrade under ambient conditions, thus addressing microplastic pollution.

Mariva won a TechTextil innovation award this year and also successfully closed a funding round from VP Capital and Future Tech Ventures. 

The company will be exhibiting at Performance Days in Munich (October 13 and 14).
