Rhodia and Salomon launch new softshell composite fabric at ispo
Silicone producer Rhodia and active and outdoor sports brand Salomon have launched a new softshell composite fabric Advantex One at ispo Winter.
The result of several years of Rhodia research and development work including laboratory and field tests carried out in partnership with Salomon, Advantex One is said to combine the performance advantages of the best hardshell and softshell materials. The technology uses an ecological concept involving bonded, in-depth silicone treatment as an alternative to traditional fluorinated surface treatments to provide performance and comfort even under extreme outdoor conditions.
It offers multi-directional stretch of the composite fabric allowing for full range of motion; resistance to abrasion and multiple washing cycles, to guarantee the long-term original performance levels of the fabric for lasting water repellency, water proofing, wind blocking and breathability; and guaranteed warmth and softness in a lightweight fabric, for added comfort.
Advantex technology is suitable for many different applications both for sports apparel and for technical fabrics (medical, military, etc.).
Our Advantex technology, which is both unique and patented, is a good illustration of how the chemicals sector can provide innovative and ‘tailor-made’ solutions to textile manufacturers for all types of applications,” commented
Frédéric Jacquin, director of Performance Coatings BU at Rhodia.
