Pebax Rnew awarded Pierre Potier Prize
The Pierre Potier Prize, created in 2006, is given each year to chemical manufacturers who focus pn sustainable development.
This year, French chemicals firm Arkema has been awarded the top prize for Pebax Rnew, the first thermoplastic high performance elastomer with a renewable carbon content of up to 95%.
Sports brands use Pebax Rnew for its lightweightness, sturdiness, and shock absorbency. Close cooperation between Arkema’s R&D team and that of Italian skiing equipment manufacturer Scarpa has led to the development of Scarpa’s new Hurricane long-distance ski boot. It has also been used for the sole of the new Wave shoe from Japanese brand Mizuno.
