Silver lining for Mammut underwear range
03/12/2008
Mammut Sports Group, and HeiQ Materials have announced that composite silver antimicrobial technology from HeiQ will feature in Mammut's new Alpine underwear range to enhance the products' odour-control capability.
In announcing the development, Mammut said that odour-control had become a necessity in modern sports apparel, but that finding solutions that are high-performing and wash-durable, yet sustainable, has been very difficult until now.
The odour-management functionality in the Alpine range will last throughout garments' lifecycle, the two companies have said. Michael Gyssler, head of marketing at Mammut, said the launch of the new underwear products had only come about after a three-year development programme and "extensive testing".
The products combine natural and synthetic fibres, and have the latest body mapping technology. They allow each area of the body to be regulated individually by transporting moisture away, cooling and heating precisely where needed.
Kristofer Skantze, head of marketing and sales at HeiQ commented: "We are delighted to work with Mammut on the Alpine Underwear programme. We provide a sustainable odour-reducing product for textiles through a unique and patented silver composite technology, requiring a minimum of active substance to achieve strong and highly durable performance."
