New book on polyesters and polyamides

Woodhead Publishing has published a new textile title, Polyesters and Polyamides.

Edited by B L Deopura, R Alagirusamy, M Joshi and B Gupta of the Indian Institute of Technology the book reviews production methods for the fibres, as well as reviewing the functionality manufacturers have been able to build into them and the wide range of applications in which they have been used.

The first part of the book describes raw materials and manufacturing processes, including environmental issues. Part two considers ways of improving the functionality of polyester and polyamide fibres, including blending, weaving, colouration and other finishing techniques, as well as new techniques such as nanotechnology. The final part of the book reviews the range of uses of these important fibres, from apparel and sportswear to automotive, medical and civil engineering applications.
