Icebreaker breaks more European ice
08/12/2008
New Zealand-based outdoor apparel brand Icebreaker has acquired a distributor in Germany, Sweden and Norway from UK-based specialist outdoor clothing distributor Bradshaw Taylor.
The new company, called Icebreaker Pure Merino GmbH, will be based in Starnberg, Germany. Bradshaw Taylor secured a multi-year extension of its Icebreaker distributorship in the United Kingdom, Denmark and Finland as part of the deal.
The acquisition continues Icebreaker’s growth strategy in Europe, which now accounts for 30% of its business. In August, it announced the purchase of its distributor in France and Switzerland, Rockline Nature Zone, and opened its first eastern European sales and marketing office in the Czech Republic.
Icebreaker merino technical outdoor apparel is now sold in 21 European countries.
