Stonewashed effect for ballistic nylon
10/12/2008
Nüwa Textiles has announced its latest fabric innovation, NüWash, a proprietary, hybrid fibre design that the company says will offer "a unique finish on performance ballistics nylon".
This nylon textile development is offered in a stonewashed effect, achieved by a careful intermixing of fibre that reacts differently to dyestuffs. Colour depth and richness not achieved previously in ballistic performance nylon is one effect. Developed in heavier weights, the fabric is now available in a full range of 400, 840 and 1680 denier ballistic weaves.
Larry Harrison, vice-president of business development for Nüwa, said on announcing the development: “Our company employs a staff of 40 in the textile research and development department. NüWash is another example of how our talented engineers are able to develop breakthroughs.”
This nylon blend is suitable for luggage, backpacks, shoes, river gear, sailing equipment or other heavy-duty applications where performance is requisite.
