Progress of the utmost importance
When Sympatex announced the launch of a new technology called Utmospheric ahead of September’s Lineapelle exhibition in Milan, it predicted that as a result of this innovation, the traditional method for producing liners for waterproof outdoor shoes could be “made redundant”. The process allows for the creation of three-dimensional laminates that adapt “perfectly” to the shape of the wearer’s foot. This is achieved by means of a thermal moulding technique. The resulting liner is free of seams and creases. More importantly, it can be done without compromising the quality or functionality of the laminate, something which is not guaranteed when employing current methods of production.
