Repreve rewards sports fans for recycling efforts
American football team The Detroit Lions provided all fans attending its December 7 home game with a towel made from Repreve recycled yarn, as a celebration of TurnItGreen week.

Since 2009, Repreve-maker Unfi has recycled more than 2 billion plastic bottles into products made by brands including The North Face, Patagonia, Ford and Haggar. Each towel is a made from three bottles, and the companies hope the promotion will raise awareness of recycling.

At the end of the 2014 season, Repreve and the Lions will donate Repreve-based products to the Detroit Lions Academy to celebrate the fans' successful recycling efforts.

Roger Berrier, president of Unifi, said: "Our intention with this collaboration is not only to educate fans on the importance of recycling and increase in-stadium recycling efforts, but also expand recycling efforts in the NFL fan community, and we feel that we have started to make this happen."
