The latest issue of WSA magazine is now available

The September/October 2018 issue of WSA magazine is now available. The full e-zine can be accessed here.

This issue leads with an article that examines how the fourth industrial revolution, otherwise known as Industry 4.0, is affecting how textile companies of all sizes think about their manufacturing and sales operations.

In our other lead feature, we focus on the issue of water waste in the textile industry. With many stages of fibre manufacturing, dyeing and finishing requiring large quantities of this resource, industry players are having to be innovative in order to address their environmental impact.

This issue’s Newcomers feature brings details about Helly Hansen’s new offshore sailing collection, which was put to the test by a team competing in the 2018 Volvo Ocean Race.

Our Footwear Technology section puts the spotlight on the crossover of two of adidas’ most interesting projects from recent years, as it produces a shoe made from recycled ocean plastic at its new US advanced manufacturing facility.

As always, we dedicate some space to the topic of sustainability, with the focus this time on the potential opportunities for natural fibres as a result of rising pressure on plastic-based materials.

Other features in this issue include a look at the current situation in the US textile industry and a round-up of the events surrounding the decision to move the OutDoor exhibition to Munich from 2019.

The latest industry figure to feature in our Game Changers section is Laura Colnaghi Calissoni, who has managed to balance her role at the head of Italian textile company Carvico with her love of and success in a variety of sports.
