Arkema increases its focus on 3D printing solutions

Chemicals group Arkema has created a new commercial platform which it says will be dedicated to the needs of the “demanding and innovative” 3D printing market.

The platform, to be known as ‘3D Printing Solutions by Arkema’, will include the range of materials Arkema already makes for this sector. It will also serve to accelerate the company’s development of new materials and services dedicated to additive manufacturing.

Upon making the announcement, Arkema’s chairman and CEO, Thierry Le Hénaff, said: “Industry today needs flexibility, freedom of design, and product customisation. With this commercial platform, Arkema will facilitate open communication and innovation across many product offerings and services, and will be in a position to support 3D printing market players as new applications are developed."

Among the products Arkema offers related to 3D printing are photocure resins and high-performance thermoplastic polymers. Its brands include N3xt Dimensions resins, Rilsan biosourced polyamides, and Kepstan PEKK polymers.  The company has said it is investing heavily in this growing market.
