Strong line-up for Performance Days Munich
The functional fabric fair will be opening its doors in Messe Munchen’s A1 and 12 halls this Wednesday and Thursday, October 29 and 30. In addition to its key topic, textile-to-textile recycling, the show will also be focusing on creativity. A new ‘Creative Area’, orchestrated by trend and colour consultant Nora Kühner, will be highlighting forward-looking designs, materials and ideas.
This year’s key topic on closing the textile loop will be featured in the show’s informative trend forum and in many Expert Talks and presentations. The Day 0 Conference, which takes place tomorrow, October 28, has chosen to focus on waste: “In Nature, there is no Waste” and will be covering the subject in three sessions: drawing inspiration from nature, reducing waste and, true to its hands-on ethos, how to go from theory to practice.
Five award winners
Performance Days has added new categories to its innovation awards with the addition of a wool and a bodywear award. UK-based Rheon Labs (featured in Sportstextiles, here) has won the innovation award for its novel energy-absorbing polymer and specifically its newest application case for sports bras. The performance prize has gone to Toray for an ultra lightweight 3-layer Dermizax laminate made from a 7-denier recycled yarn, which weighs a mere 51 g/sq m and is PFAS-free. This session’s Eco Award goes to Australian company Xefco and recognises the importance of plasma technologies to reduce water usage in dyeing and finishing.
