Latest Patagonia lines feature Polygiene odour control

A number of Patagonia products debuting at the upcoming trades shows Winter Outdoor Retailer in the US and Germany’s Ispo include Polygiene’s odour control treatments.

Patagonia’s Capilene baselayer collection features the treatment in silk-weight, lightweight, mid-weight and expedition-weight styles. Many of the outdoors brand’s autumn 2013 trail running base layers also use Polygiene, including the fore runner shirt, gamut shirt and its all-weather top.

Polygiene can be applied to a range of textiles and surfaces and is made with silver derived from recycled electronics.

Todd Copeland, environmental product specialist at Patagonia, said: “Patagonia will not sacrifice performance yet we strive to minimise our environmental impact. Effective, long-lasting odour control extends the useful life of our baselayers. As Patagonia scrutinised odour control technology against all environmental concerns, bluesign approval and recycled silver were key attributes that led us to select Polygiene.”

Polygiene CEO Christian von Uthmann added: “Patagonia is a milestone partner for Polygiene because they represent a balance between performance and environmental responsibility – exactly the same ethos of our brand. We are very proud to be a branded ingredient in their clothing and we are confident consumers will notice the performance Polygiene delivers.”
