Chinese sports brands closed more than 3,000 stores in 2012

Reports from China suggest domestic sports brands closed down a combined total of more than 3,000 retail outlets last year.

Commentators said the companies paid the price in 2012 for “blind expansion” in previous years.

Li Ning is reported to have closed 1,200 of its stores in different Chinese citiies, while Peak cut more than 1,000. China Dongxiang’s Kappa shut 569, and Anta reduced its numbers by 110 stores. The figure for 361 degrees was 96 stores.
