The announcement follows further unrest among some Yue Yuen workers in mainland China.
Reuters reported unrest among workers on March 18, saying employees were protesting about the proposed merger of two Yue Yuen factories in southern China. The company told the news agency that it had matters under control and that the situation would calm down in a matter of days.
Two days later, it announced that Lin Cheng Tien, executive vice-president in charge of production, and Hu Chia Ho, head of human resources at Yue Yuen’s parent company, Pou Chen Corporation, would be taking up executive director positions at Yue Yuen for a period of three years.
