It will provide funding for projects, skills training, and research and development through a combination of capital and revenue grants. This includes improving premises, buying machinery and equipment, boosting energy efficiency, and workforce training.
The programme is targeted at the areas of Greater Manchester, Lancashire and West Yorkshire, where much of the UK’s clothing and homeware manufacturing is concentrated. Support will be available for companies outside these areas in the case of “exceptional opportunities which would have a significant impact on the sector as a whole”.
There is a cap of £2 million on any single grant, which are available for manufacturers, textile machine suppliers and designers.
