Under Armour sleepwear range aids recovery
09/01/2017
The UA Athlete Recovery Sleepwear range was developed in collaboration with American Football player Tom Brady, an Under Armour athlete, who says sleep is one of the most important parts of his training regime.
The garments have a hexagonal bioceramic pattern printed on the inside, which absorbs infrared waves emitted by the body. It reflects Far Infrared waves back towards the body, which Under Armour said improves blood circulation and helps the wearer recover faster while sleeping. The range includes full-length shirts and pants, as well as short versions. They are available for both men and women.
Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank said during an address at CES that it had taken the company more than two years to find a way to embed the infrared technology into apparel.
"By monitoring trends within our connected fitness communities, we've seen an uptick in athletes who are adopting a 24/7 training mentality, which led us to think about factors like sleep and recovery and how important they are to overall performance," said Mike Lee, Under Armour’s chief digital officer. "This drove our focus to make all athletes better through the science of sleep and recovery, and to unlock the potential for athletes to use sleep as a weapon to reach their absolute peak."
