Intelligent material award for HeiQ

07/05/2013

HeiQ, a textile technology provider, has won an award for ‘intelligent material and design’ for a collaboration with Bekaert Textiles

Adaptive by HeiQ is based on a hydro-functional polymer whose properties change in response to temperature, releasing and transporting moisture.

Applied to bedding textiles, as in the Bekaert case, Adaptive keeps the consumer cool and dry throughout the night and improves sleep quality, according to the companies. The award will presented at German textile show Interzum next week.

Dirk Vandeplancke, CEO of Bekaert, said: “We really enjoyed every step of this Swiss-Belgian innovation project. After we exchanged ideas on how to address temperature regulation, our R&D and marketing teams took off with full focus on the objective; the launch of stunning new Bekaert fabrics incorporated with a technology that actively regulates temperature during the night.”
