Hoka One One builds on carbon plate technology trend

Carbon plate technology makes another appearance in the latest shoe from Hoka One One, in a tongue-free trainer called the Carbon X SPE.

Designed to be an endurance racer, the shoe is engineered with a responsive carbon fibre plate said to aid in propulsion, as well as the brand’s signature rocker technology.

The shoe has been produced in a limited run, with a tongue-free upper encased in a soft mesh bootie and lined in a thin, mono-mesh. Hoka said its Profly X foam sits atop the carbon fibre plate and rubberised foam sits below, while the carbon fibre plate “curls under the lateral toes to prevent re-supination”.
