Sportswear innovation centre inaugurated in Beijing
21/10/2021
Many prominent figures from the Chinese sports and sportswear spheres attended.
Deputy director of the winter sports management centre of the country’s General Administration of Sport, Hong Ping (pictured, right) and BIFT president, Jia Ronglin (pictured, left), formally inaugurated the academy.
Mr Hong emphasised the importance of integrating the national sports and cultural tourism industries going forward. He gave the opinion that the fashion industry, as a key player in both cultural and economic development, is naturally tied up with the construction of a “modern economic system”.
Significantly, China’s State Council issued a national fitness plan for 2021-2025 in August, which it said was intended to promote the development of national fitness and “meet the people’s fitness and health needs”. One of the main “tasks” for the country, listed within the plan, was to integrate fitness with health, education and tourism.
Prior to this, in June, Chinese sports group Anta partnered Beijing’s Tsinghua University to set up a new joint research centre for sports fashion.
