Major changes coming for Anta’s executive team

20/01/2023
Sports group Anta has announced significant changes to its executive leadership team, effective February 1.

The aim behind the shake-up, the company said, is to move its multi-brand and globalisation strategies forward, plus split the dual role of chairman-chief executive, a position currently held by group co-founder Ding Shizhong. It also means to improve management efficiency and talent development, Anta added.

Notably, Mr Ding will retire from his responsibilities as chief executive, but he will remain in place as chairman. He will be replaced by co-chief executives Lai Shixian and Wu Yonghua, formerly chief financial officer and chief executive of the group’s performance sports division, respectively. Mr Lai is brother-in-law to Mr Ding.

Among several new responsibilities, Mr Lai will oversee all Anta brands with the exception of Fila, while Mr Wu will be put in charge of Fila. The position of group chief financial officer will be filled by Bing Mingwei.

At the same time, Zheng Jie will step away from his roles as group president and chief executive of Anta’s outdoor sports division, but remain chief executive of subsidiary Amer Sports. He will stay on as an executive director.

The remit of Mr Ding’s younger brother, Ding Shijia, is also due to be streamlined. He will now only oversee the group's manufacturing operation, as opposed to the added responsibility of supply chain management.
