Anta reports 2022 ESG and financial progress
Hong Kong-listed sports group Anta has released its audited results for the year ended December 31, 2022.

Revenues climbed to around $7.8 billion (¥53.7 billion), the company reported, representing a climb of 8.8% versus the year previous.

Namesake company Anta, the group’s biggest brand, contributed more than half of the total by bringing in approximately $4 billion or ¥27.7 billion, a rise of 15.5% year on year (YOY). Despite itself declining 1.4% YOY, the Fila brand was not far behind, however, contributing roughly $3.2 billion (¥21.8 billion).

All other brands combined delivered $640 million in revenue, up 26.1% YOY.

Meanwhile, in its annual environmental, social and governance (ESG) report, released alongside its financial results, Anta's co-founder and chairman, Ding Shizhong, detailed how the business had audited more than 70 tier one, 35 tier two and three tier three suppliers for social responsibility over the 12 months, during which partners were assessed against criteria relating to health and safety, labour rights and “green” production, plus more.

During the same period, 50-plus suppliers underwent third-party Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), Workplace Conditions Assessment (WCA) and Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP) audits, Mr Ding noted. Other key developments included the publication of a supplier sustainability management handbook and formally signing up to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The group additionally recruited in excess of 17,000 university graduates and early-career professionals in 2022, it said, and was directly responsible for the creation of 59,000 employment opportunities across the board.

Having renewed its official sponsorship agreement with Team China via the country’s Winter Sports Management Center towards the end of last year, Anta also revealed how it has now obtained 25 patents for the pair of skeleton shoes it developed for national athletes in the run-up to Beijing 2022.
