The Lycra Company names new CEO
Fibre manufacturer The Lycra Company has announced Gary Smith as its new chief executive.
He will take up the role at the end of November, when acting chief executive, Dean Williams, will return full time to his role as chief finance officer and help his successor with the transition.
Gary Smith became chief executive of performance fabrics manufacturer Polartec in 2012, following spells at Timberland and McKinsey & Company. He remained in this role until 2019, stepping down when Polartec was acquired by Milliken. Since then, he has led a business turnaround at Hatteras Yachts.
He has described The Lycra Company as an “incredible organisation, with world-class brands, a pre-eminent market position and a history of innovation”.
