Ispo features natural performance runway show
Eco-Age, a consultancy and media platform for more sustainable fashion, organised a runway show at ispo, on this week in Amsterdam. “Fashion. For a Future.” was curated by the team behind the Green Carpet Fashion Awards. The looks were chosen based on a series of criteria. The materials had to be made from bio-based, regenerative or closed-loop recycled fibres. Finishing processes were expected to be low-impact dyeing and PFAS-free, and the garments designed for repair, modularity or part of a take-back programme.
Armedangels’ Tencel lyocell windbreaker that offers wind protection, breathability and light water repellency without a membrane, was a key piece of the show. The German brand is on a mission to develop plastic-free sports apparel.
Items made by Finisterre included a Nordic-patterned jumper in ZQ+ certified regenerative wool, traceable to two farms on New Zealand’s South Island, and a wetsuit made from Yulex natural rubber.
Craghoppers’ fully recycled technical outerwear and trekking kit made the cut for its 100% recycled polyester face fabric, filler and lining. The silhouette included boots with EVA midsoles and insoles made from algae repurposed by Bloom. The entire kit was dyed using waterless processes.
Another British brand, Dryrobe was chosen for a 100% recycled nylon shell jacket with a 100% recycled polyester lining and a PFC-free water-repellent finish. Recycled content also allowed Finnish brand Icepeak to participate in the show, while fellow Finnish children’s wear brand Reima was chosen for its bluepass-certified main materials, linings and insulation, topped off by a Bionic Finish water repellent finish by Rudolf of Germany.
Accessories were also part of the line-up, with footwear maker Glerups’ natural wool, natural rubber and chrome-free calfskin boots, slip-ons and shoes, and Sinner’s sunglasses with frames made from Rilsan, a biopolyamide, and recycled polyester beanies.
The Mills Fabrica, a sustainability and social impact innovation hub, was also a partner in the event and presented six material innovators: Amphico, Dimpora, Nuyarn, Resortecs, Sparxell and Synflux.
