Hyosung expands Regen offering, partners Pleats Mama
South Korea-based fibre producer Hyosung TNC has teamed up with Seoul’s city government and green-minded Korean brand Pleats Mama (which specialises in rPET-derived wares) on a collection inspired by - and directly drawn from - the country’s capital.
The collaboration, branded Love Seoul, marks Hyosung’s first entry to market with its Regen Seoul recycled yarn, created from waste PET bottles collected from the city’s Geumcheon, Yeongdeungpo and Gangnam districts. Hyosung reportedly signed an agreement with the three districts last January, which involved creating value-added products through recycling plastic bottles.
Previously, Hyosung’s Regen yarn was made with post-consumer plastic bottles from Jeju Island.
Sold via Pleats Mama’s online and Hyundai Seoul department store shopfronts, the fibre producer not only handled the collection’s textile processing, but also product design and manufacturing. Hyosung launched G3H10, an eco-friendly collection of its own, last month.
The Love Seoul collection includes an “athleisure” hoodie, leggings and jogger pants.
