BlackYak introduces K-rPET Plustic collection
Seoul-based outdoor brand BlackYak recently unveiled Plustic (a portmanteau of the words plus and plastic), a new collection of garments derived from K-rPET.
The initial run includes t-shirts, jackets and trousers, which, depending on the kind of garment, each incorporate at least fifteen 500-mililitre recycled PET bottles collected from within South Korea.
Several t-shirt styles reportedly include the brand’s cooling technology and, according to local media, articles such as jackets and a “safety bag” have an in-built antibacterial function.
A BlackYak spokesperson said: “We have expanded consumers’ [K-rPET] options by adding outdoor technology, so that the production of eco-friendly products can lead to sustainable consumption. We will continue to expand our collection even further.”
