Nelson Sports and The Gear Shop team up
South Korea-based Nelson Sports (the exclusive distributor of Arc’teryx, Scarpa, GSI Outdoors, Mad Rock, Lizard, Millican and Big Agnes in Korea) recently joined hands with the country’s The Gear Shop, local media have reported.
The new concept, which reportedly involves The Gear Shop supporting Nelson Sports with curating and incubating its brands for increased success at retail, has been identified as a new growth engine for Nelson, Korean media said.
Currently, the idea exists only in beta version within limited local Lotte department store locations (Arc’teryx and Scarpa articles mainly make up the two companies’ offering within Lotte’s new Jamsil-dong, Seoul, branch), in order to collect data on consumers’ responses to the tie-up.
Following the data analysis stage, the plan is then to open a physical flagship store.
Nelson’s online shop is also set to be “reorganised” in the form of an unspecified “platform”.
