Organic Basics introduces algae-dyed range
As part of its exploration of new low-impact manufacturing processes, Organic Basics has chosen to dye a range of intimates made from recycled nylon with Algaeing’s Algaedye. The sustainable underwear and activewear brand was founded in Copenhagen in 2015 and is a part of the Delta Galil group since 2022.

Israel-based Algaeing has developed dyes and inks derived from algae and can offer a palette of 25 shades. According to a Made2Flow LCA Report, the production of Algaeing’s products help save 74% greenhouse gas emissions and 98% water compared to conventional dye and ink production.

Interest appears to be growing for the innovative plant-based colourants, as the clean chemistry start-up has also entered into a partnership with US zipper maker IDEAL Fastener Corporation.
