According to the export promotion department of the ministry for SMEs, trade and business environment, Romanian textile exports totalled EUR4.3 billion for the year ended October 31, 2008, accounting for 15% of total Romanian exports. Imports totalled EUR4 billion, 8% of total imports.

The top export destination for Romanian textiles was Italy, accounting for 36% of the country´s total textile exports of Romania at a value of EUR1.1 billion. The main non-EU markets for Romanian exports were Serbia, the US, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Russia, Ukraine, Croatia, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong.
