Design award for Falke's Fremont Charcoal Shirt

26/03/2009

Technical apparel company Falke Ergonomic Sport System’s Fremont Charcoal Shirt has won a red dot design award in the “product design 2009” category.

The new running shirt is based on a polyester fibre that has been embedded in the charcoal (carbonated bamboo). The high tech material offers excellent moisture management and absorption, thus preventing unpleasant odours.

This effect is enhance by open mesh structures that offer increased breathability. At the same time, the very light material emits a subtle infrared radiation that has a warming effect, thereby improving blood circulation. The fibre also oxygenates the air with negative ions for “increased well-being”.

For women the shirt Fremont is available in the seasonal colours orchid and chilli, for men it is available in casual denim and sophisticated graphite.

Judging of the products submitted for the award is carried out by an international jury of design experts. They scrutinise and test the products, and appraise them according to various criteria, including their level of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability, ecological compatibility and self-explanatory qualities. This year, companies from 49 countries submitted a total of 3,231 products for the jury’s consideration.
