According to reports, Nike is to halt operations at one Vietnamese factory and at three facilities in China while it performs a review of its global supply chain.

The sportswear firm, which is said to be the main or sole buyer at each unit, is looking to streamline its worldwide operations in order to improve efficiency. It currently uses 72 factories globally, the majority of which are in China, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Erin Dobson, Nike's director of corporate responsibility, told Reuters: "We have begun notification to four factories that we will be discontinuing orders with them."
