Uranus Apparel unveils debut soya underwear

Uranus Apparel, a new eco-friendly company formed by two college students, is to launch its first line of soya underwear for women under the brand name Uranus. The underwear is made in a “boyshort”-style and, as a result, has been given the nickname “soyshorts”.

“The idea for Uranus Apparel was developed by two University of Florida students, who sought to create a product that would promote sustainability with a sense of humour. Despite the funny name, the company is seriously committed to utilising soy as a more sustainable alternative to cotton fibre,” said Natalie San Andres, company co-founder.

According to the company, soya is a fantastic alternative fabric choice because it is manufactured from the by-products of soya food production such as tofu and soya bean oil. Furthermore, it claims soya fabric is also extremely soft and comfortable, as well as being more durable and drying more quickly than cotton.
